II Chronicles 7:14: "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

How to help America become the land of the free

Free from the death of innocent unborn babies

If my people, who are called by my name..."  This wasn't written to the secular society.  It was written to those called by God's name.  Aren't we called Christians for a reason?  Isn't Christ our Savior?  We had better start listening.

"will humble themselves..."  Have you, as a Christian, done anything to stop abortion?  Once a year at a Life Chain isn't enough.  Have you been in any way involved in an abortion?  Humble yourself.

"and pray and seek my face..."  Christian, you must repent, ask for forgiveness before God will even listen.

"and turn from their wicked ways..." This may be the hardest part.  Temptation will come.  As one pastor's wife recently said, "We took our daughter for an abortion because we didn't want anyone to know."  Did you vote for the parental notification initiative or did you not bother to vote?  Or did you think, "I really don't want to know if my teenager is pregnant"?

"then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."  God has given us conditions before He will listen, will forgive and will heal our land.  It sounds so simple but until we really believe and act upon these few words, our country will continue to go down.  Christians who have responded: A group of dedicated Christians of several different denominations met weekly for one hour for six months to pray in front of a facility that advertised for abortion (or "termination of pregnancy" to be exact) by helping set up women with doctors who would do abortions.  First the whole complex was sold; second the ads stopped in the phone book and third it is very hard to even get a referral to a doctor. Prayer works.

As a church body we can make a difference.  Yes, Christians should care about missionaries, the poor in other lands, and the victims of hurricanes but until we really face our own "wicked ways" as a nation we are not going to be in God's plan for the future.  Killing the innocent, including the preborn in the womb, is one if not the greatest sin God speaks about in the Bible.  Christian Churches of America: We must stop abortion.
